i would like to know what the process is for posting about potential recasters, frauds, etc.

it seems right now that someone posts the warning, with a link for evidence, which is then removed by the admin/moderator, which of course causes a flurry of activity by users asking just who was being outed (so they know) and others saying that links should not have been posted in the first place, and everything inbetween.

i can see the potential for problems, since having a liberal mind i am able to see the points of both sides. should users stop making these posts and instead leave it to the admin (who is pretty active online) to post on his own when he discover the fraud? i'm just looking for clarification. as mak (hopefully) gains in popularity, recasters et al will only become more prevalent.

I do not see the role of this forum as a place to report recasts. The Forum does not have any authority or policing power  to take any action against fraud or enforce the copyright on behalf of the artist outside of this web site. I don't know of any fan site willing to take on that role. Some of our members are close to the creators of the series and may assist with fraud reporting, but that is on an individual level. Maybe someone wants to be set up as a special recipient of these notices. If so, I will update.

The Forum can ban/delete members who are misleading their For Sale listings. We also list known recasters on online auctions as a way to assist our members to avoid being taken with misleading advertising.
A list can be found here: http://maschinenkrueger.com/forum/index.php?topic=1208.0

Posting links to recasts can appear as promoting the item and the practice. We know they are out there. Tips for reporting suspected recasts or copyright infringement on EBay are already posted here on the site numerous places, but here it is again, http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/replica-counterfeit.html

It is up to the individual to ask questions of the retailer, do the research and above all, buyer beware, if it's too good of a deal, it probably is.

The Forum rules for recasts are pretty clear.

Recasts

The subject of recasts comes up often. It is acceptable to discuss these products as your Gallery entries or your progress builds. What will not be tolerated is blatant discussion about services or sources for recasts. Recasting is theft and hurts the (amateur) garage resin kit industry, in addition it makes professional overseas relationships difficult. These posts will be locked or deleted and members will be warned or deleted.

Visit Krueger's Krieger
I'd rather see you build one than know you pre-ordered two.

Just received this first-hand account from someone who made the mistake and bought a recast;

I emailed you earlier asking about a kit on ebay from China. Unfortunately, I had bought it and it turned out to be as bad as you suggested it might. He later sent me a set of instructions that described parts that bore no resemblance to the resin in the kit he sent.

You may consider adding "model-in" to your ebay list of recast vendors. His address was model-in [modelinuk@gmail.com] in the email trail. I am not certain how to follow up with ebay on this, but at least it should show up on the message boards.
