General rules to follow

Read the Rules

They are here to set a general guideline for the function of the forum. Some boards have their own specific additional rules.

Reviews
Marketplace

Registration Is Mandatory

Registration will be mandatory to post messages in this board.

Keep the posts within the realm of the SF3D/MaschinenKrieger universe.

Try to keep things to the general topic of MaK. MaK is such an esoteric series and it would be nice to keep the board in that direction. There are plenty of other SciFi boards for both general and specific subjects. There is an Off Topic forum for “whatever”, but it needs to follow the same rules outlined here.

Post in the right forum!

There are general and specific forums in this board. Be sure to post your message or question in the appropriate one. Also, do not post in a forum solely to alert members to your post in another forum. Post in the category that best accommodates your message, and post it there, once. If you're following up to a response to that topic, reply to the original thread. Do not start a new one. Moderators will move posts to the appropriate forums as necessary. Thread Has Been Moved To... will no longer be displayed. It just clutters up the board and defeats the purpose of moving it in the first place.

Use a descriptive Topic subject.

This will better help guide those interested to you post and will aid in Search functions. There is no need to be vague.

Use the Search Function.

Search the forum first. If you can’t find what you are looking for here and you can’t find it on the web, then ask your question. We’re a helpful bunch and want to answer your questions, but if it’s one that is readily available and has been answered a dozen times already, then people are less likely to be interested in responding to your post.

Don't spam a forum with 20 questions each in their own post.

Post all of your questions in one post to save space. There's no need to post multiple questions in multiple new threads.

Posting Images   Read this post=> How to post images

We love to see your work. There are plenty of online picture storage sites. Some are free, some have a fee. But keep the images to an acceptable level. If you have to scroll to the side to see it all, it's too big. Keep the photos to a max of 600x480 if you "[IMG]" link them. If you have a lot of photos, more than 3 per posting, or large ones, just post the HTML link or a thumbnail link to the image to keep the bandwidth down for those with dial up connections. Moderators reserve the right to change "[IMG]" tags to HTML, but will probably ask you to do it first. This will apply to new posts and any existing messages are OK.

Constructive Criticism

Constructive criticism is an important part of contributing to the discussions at this message board. Think of constructive criticism as a critique with the goal of improvement. So, rather than reviewing another modeler's work and commenting on aspects you like and dislike, you should support your statements. Why don't you like it? How can it be improved? Simply stating negatives can be seen as trolling or flaming — and sometimes it is.

Constructive criticism doesn't mean sugar coating anything. It is important to be honest. However, supporting your statements does give a more positive and helpful perspective. It also gives you more credibility as a fellow artist/modeler.

Do not post or link to Pornographic, objectionable material, or subjects to start an argument.

Does it really need to be defined? Think first.

Message Content.

You are solely responsible for the content of your message.

Trading post Forum

This is the place for board members to post items they wish to sell or trade. Keep the subject line descriptive to aid members. We all have stuff we wish to get rid of, but this is not a place to sell your used copy of Golden Girls Season One DVD. Keep items limited to hobby related products of interest to the forum.

General Marketplace requires 20 or more posts to create a new thread or reply to an existing one.

See Topic http://maschinenkrueger.com/forum/index.php?topic=2315.0

Recasts

The subject of recasts comes up often. It is acceptable to discuss these products as your Gallery entries or your progress builds. What will not be tolerated is blatant discussion about services or sources for recasts. These hurt the garage resin kit industry and make professional overseas relationships difficult. These posts will be locked or deleted and members will be warned or deleted.

Please see additional comments regarding reporting recasts

Signatures and Avatars

Your signatures will be no longer than 255 characters Signatures may contain smilies, but no other images. Your signature may contain a link to your personal or (hobby related) business page. Your avatar image may be 80pix by 80pix and can be no larger than 16k. Your signature and Avatar need to follow the same guidelines for material content.

Off-Topic Posts

Use this for your rantings, humorous links, or other postings that do not fall into the broad descriptions of the other Forums. Post in the Off Topic forum need to follow the same rules as outlined above.

Moderators.

Moderators are here to maintain order on the forums and ensure all users have the same opportunity to express their opinions, ask their questions and discuss the topics that interest them within the realms of the above guidelines. The moderators and ownership have the ability to edit and delete messages if they feel it is necessary. Any edits to a post will be clearly indicated by the moderator.

Vigilante Moderators

The admins and mods are here to moderate the forum, keep the peace, watch for suspicious posts, etc. but we may not catch everything in a timely manner. If you see an offending post or image, do not take it upon yourself to openly confront or instruct the member. Contact a Moderator or Administrator and they will take whatever action is necessary. Members who take it upon themselves to moderate posts may be in just as much trouble as the bad post.

Thread Bumping

You post a message and no one responds after a few days, so you respond to your own post to get a response. This is thread bumping. Don't do it. If someone has an answer or trade to make, they will respond or PM you.

Thread Jacking

When the course of a thread shifts from the original topic severely, this is thread jacking. Mods can split off these topics to form a new thread.

Unwritten Rules

Don’t let your questionable activities create another item in this list. Please keep things civil and within boundaries of common courtesy. This list can always be updated.
