Is the recommendation to go FedEx over the other offers?
In this case, I thinks it's weight related while FedEx may only be worried about size on a package like this. I don't know the magic rule but HLJ gives you shipping estimates right on the page.

1,300 is a good deal, cost me 4,000 to send via EMS from the post office to the US. It's a really heavy set... Wonder how I send Fedex?

Can anyone translate the Raptor ad for Wave on the last page of the 82-87 chronicle. Looks like it is saying 2010?

Primer - that's why I have to ask!
Thanks Futch. I've had stuff delivered here before for the flat envelope fee of 1,300 yen, wonder if HLJ messed up and short changed themselves!?!
Fedex - OUCH! Just checked it out, as non commercial person, a 2kg shipment would cost 10,000 yen for Economy Shipping to Florida (for example). 20,000 JPY for First Priority. Might stick with EMS unless I am doing something wrong...

Might stick with EMS unless I am doing something wrong... I doubt it. Some carriers provide a discount rate on 'documents' though...stuff that can be tossed around. From the things I've shipped around the planet, 1 to 5 pound packages ship for around $10 per pound (airmail). Slightly higher for priority. Aside, the fastest EMS shipping I've seen is 2 days. J to FL.

This looks like a great resource and overdue. I will have to order when I get my comission in (card balance vs fun...)
But I have to ask, what happens to Ma.K now that SF3D is back??
Maybe they can live side by side? I hope so

It goes on being Ma.K The book is called SF3D Chronicles because the content is from the time that Ma.K was still being referred to as that. Btw, SF3D just translates from Japanese to 'Sci-Fi Sunday (SF San - Day)' meaning the time that you allocate in the week to your modeling hobby and isn't actually Maschinen Krieger specific.

SF3D is back, but it's in a hot tub time machine kind of thing. You can't change it but you can look at it again with new eyes.

Considering how much the Japanese like puns, I would imagine that the reading "Science Fiction, 3-Dimentional", was not unintended? The '3D' also referring to the focus on 3-dimentional models over drawings or manga.

Arrived a couple of days ago and havent even scratched the surface of these brilliant books, possibly the best Ma.K publication to date . . . (considering i have not seen any of the original HJ articles before). They are just excellent! really gives you a feel for the development and fun behind the whole project. BRILLIANT!

I must admit, I absolutely fuggin love this release!!! It's exactly what it's meant to be, a trip back to the SF3D times for those of us whom for whatever reasons didn't get to see it. Sensei did it for all the "new" folks so we could enjoy it from the start as well. Now we've seen it all and wow, what a mind injection it is! I feel like I've been hooked up to the learning machine in Battlefield Earth or been given the SF3D training download via a Matrix plug in!! It's all there in a compact form of just two books and upsized as well. Yokoyama-san himself is getting a real kick out of it. There was so much material in it that he had forgotten about and that has jogged his memory since seeing it. The stories coming out are fascinating. I'll try to get some of them written out but as you could imagine, it's like an un-capped oil well and it's just pouring out. The best thing about SF3D Chronicles is that it's an excellent playing field leveller for all Ma.K fans alike. Instead of wondering what some of the older fans were talking about - honestly, I never had a clue when seeing/hearing things like "Green Buffalo, Chaika, Sphinx" and so on, we can all get a copy of it and see for ourselves, read it and even ask the big guy questions. In addition, the potential for new creation is opened up too when we have access to all the material. Sensei very kindly took me through the books on the phone after the signing event and the ideas he still has! That and I suggested one of the AI vehicle heads that I thought would look really cool on the NutCracker/Rocker body so that could be a contender for an additional Hasegawa release. Awesome stuff, so pleased by this. Can you tell!?! Linc

Just did a look-see of the preview pages from the HLJ website and boy many of these pages are 'new' to me. And I have that SF3D magazine plus a couple of others... Argh, I might just have to get it myself!
