It's not realy expensive, i buy miniature from Andrea or other makers, but it's hard to understand why there is a difference of about 20% between this miniature http://www.hlj.com/product/BRK003 or this one http://www.hlj.com/product/BRK006 (Includes two heads !)
I still looking for a logical reason  Wink It won't stop me to buy one or two, i just hope guys at Brickworks are not greedy.  Grin

Naw, by then the USD will be even worse off. It fell again against the Yen today.

if this keeps up I'm going to have to quit Ma.K and going into something cheaper like studio scale modeling...

I don't care for the sculpt. In one view of the painted figure it looks like her shorts are unzipped. Is that correct? Grow up!
Yeah I wish Brickworks would stop making stripper girl after stripper girl and make some male pilots,mechanics,heads,etc....
Microboy.
I totally agree. I've had enough of these albeit very pretty but inappropriate figures. I will not be buying this one.

Haha, no, just a vast knowledge of pop culture from the 70s and 80s. Google "cosmo burt reynolds" and BAM!

USD is down another cent from yesterday to 78¢ against the Japanese "dollar". All time contemporary low, fellas.

Fan Boy Lin.K - I agree, I don't want, need any more girlie girls. I've not painted even 1 yet.  Cheesy They just don't jive with my war-ish vignettes. It would creep my wife out to be spending time over this.

Industry Lincoln - these are so tame by Japan standards that it's impossible to mention this to brickworks. He's a guy up on the north island and well, this is what he makes when they ask him for a figure. I'm not saying I stand either way, it's just that if you thumb through a Hobby Japan you'll see that these are by comparison, historical style figures. Hilarious isn't it?

Tell them with your money, don't buy. I am asking for more cool pilots in suits. Buy Hasegawa's Figure set A!

I think the issue is that MA.K figures are so thin on the ground and typically super-limited that BW, with its relatively open-ended production and distribution, ends up owning most of the market by default.

I mean, a maker that specializes in slightly pin-up-ish female figures is just fine in itself, but it's a niche within a niche genre wise. If no one else is making or selling figures, then consumers can't help aiming their generalist wants/expectations at that one specialist maker.

There may not be enough room between the rock of a niche market and the hard place of licensing limits for more figure makers with BW-level distribution though.

For me the girl pilots started with"Pinky" I have liked the bw girls but there are  too few to do what I want. I have all of the figures but have yet to incorporate one in a diorama. The pin up quality bothers me less than the scarcity of usable figures. More busts er I mean more head and shoulder busts of pilots would be nice. A balance of guys might be better for us but would they sell in Japan?  We can vote by not buying them but it would be better if someone at brick works knew what we want.

It sounds to me like the JapMakkers will continue to buy the BW girlies and they probably outnumber us 2-1 so the only way to express our opinion is to let it be known to Mr BW that we want different figures. Question is, how do we do that?

I also don't care for panties in my hobby life Smiley
Give me a girl with a cool Mak helmet, holding a nice looking gun and maybe smoking with the other hand, in a relaxed posed with maybe a cool backpack

Japan Ma.Kistos outnumber your good selves 33 to 1 on the most popular overseas items and its at an all time high - favoring international sales.

Maybe we should look to other figure 'producers' to fill the void. I've just finished Roboto's Sasha figure - another cutie - and have a 'male' to paint next and although he is naked torso and denims(?) he is perfect for conversions.
Perhaps Rob can be persuaded to come up with a more military looking figure.

 Shocked Shocked Shocked
wouldn't have expected the number that high ... interesting, but somehow "shocking" too !

Personally, I look at the BW figures from a slightly different point of view : coming from figure modelling, I always appreciate a good sculpt. Although focused on WWII subjects, I have more or less frequently acquired figures of different era's/topics when I was simply amazed by the quality of the sculpt.
And that is exactly what I love so much with the BW which are simply superb imho ! Like most of you I would prefer to see some more male pilots, mechanics etc., but I will continue to buy the BW girlies (so far I bought two or more of each) because of their outstanding quality.

Yes, the numbers are certainly not in our favor by any means but I figured it best you know so as to make more realistic assumptions. I admit to feeling a little pressure with comments like, "they should know what we want" but as you can see, it doesn't factor in and won't for some time to come. We are a very minor market in a very minor market.

Still, we are making ground, we just aren't in a position to make demands.

Other makers - yes!!! This is really something I think would be great to happen. Know that you cannot influence BW so instead channel that into something that you both want and might influence the powers that be - Japanese Ma.K modelers. You get them buying it, Ma.K will listen. It's really the only way for you guys to make it worth your while too. If you only make for each other then you'll lose money each time. Sell it in japan and you have ratio reversed from 1:33.  Wink

Just remember, the bar is high. You must make the best quality in the world for it to succeed.

This thread is already getting pretty OT so I'll throw in my $1.50 worth Wink

I get tired of the whining about Ma.K figures on this forum "we need this, we need that - it's too girlie" ... go look through the galleries here and see how many completed figures there are - hardly any, nearly zilch. With all the BW/Hasegawa/original Nitto figures/Tamiya pit crew out there we are spoiled for choice but who is actually painting them? Oh sure people are buying them, but who's putting them in their builds (no need to answer those questions they are rhetorical)? Why would BW give a shit what we think when there are probably less than 5 of his figs finished by our supposed 1000 members (myself included)? He dd create a male pilot figure and so far, months later, not a single painted one in the gallery - that's a real incentive to do more  Roll Eyes. Get creative - if you think a figure is too "girlie" modify it.
I don't buy BW figures because I don't believe my painting skills justify a $50 figure - the Hase figures on the other hand work out around $7 a piece, are easy to modify, readily available and superbly detailed.

(These are just my thoughts - I'm not targeting anyone and not meaning to cause offence - I also believe everyone is entitled to their opinion about the figures and I'm not trying to stifle discussion   Wink )

Or maybe, some of you fine sculptors create some Future Military style figures in 1:20 scale and not sell them as Ma.K to avoid licensing issues!  Cheesy
