not sure if this makes sense to you guys but the way you speak of "originals" as if they were the 15, oi, 10 commandments is funny because of how it contrasts with how Kow speaks of them. They aren't x-wings up on the screen for all time, they are props used in a couple of obscure Japanese mag shots back in the 80's. He's not a fan of the camel as it was, that's why it's a big update this time.
understandable. Kow is an artist, see's his work as art, and as we all know, an artist is rarely satisfied with their work, always wanting to tweak and evolve it. "art", "original", "first cut", "draft-from-the-80s", "studio model", however you want to call it, the "80's copy" is the reference point which drew us into the genre. i think it's funny how that can be interpreted as the "10 commandments".

Has it been tweaked enough to look like something else instead?

Hahaha, BK, yes, it looks like a Gladiator, now! Win!
Who treats these models like sacred texts? I don't know of more than one (his name rhymes with Schmoctor Schmack!). I get that they are in essence sometimes just study models (and ones that were quickly built for a Hobby Japan deadline), and I've seen that "lack of reverence" in action from him (when he scraped paint off the Firefly to help ID a plastic part), and other artists with their own work, sure. Art is an ever-evolving process, period. But as Futch said, we fell "in love" with something initially, warts and all. The B-4500 looks like ass from every angle you don't see in the magazine, and wasn't even painted in some areas. Same with the Cerberus - he didn't even bother to repaint the previously built Monogram Saturn V that fleshes out the main form. If you flip the model over, you see a black and white rocket booster cylinder. It's charming.
With the Camel, I get my cake and will eat it too, with the one I have and the new styrene deelie. Win-win. But that's just me - I like to physically experience the design process, and it's fun and interesting to see where the designer decided to change things. Like collecting music - you can hear a Dylan demo, and then the album track, and then hear how it's changed as alive performance over the years. All are interesting for varying reasons, and taken as a whole, show the artist evolving the design. Lucas won't allow the original Star Wars to be preserved, and doesn't understand why people are upset? He should know that people DO like to hold onto old "shitty" flawed stuff.
And the X-Wings are the same deal. Sure, they saw screen time and were in a much higher profile intellectual property (for lack of a better term) than SF3D, but they were also tweaked like hell with every film after the first one, and were even replaced entirely with a digital "Red 5" in the last revision we saw. Lucas cares as much about the models as Kow does. It's just a visual tool/reference point to build from. I like 'em all, but that first one is "magic". Like the Camel.

Hey, I never argued with you crazy kids, I just said that it's funny because of the contrast and the extra tablet with 5 more commandments.
Bryan - yes! If it can look as good as the concept sketches then it should be much better. Then it depends on Sedo-san's version.
Hey, I'm not all Star Wars sex nuts and retard strong but wouldn't the Kow builds be like Cantwell and the production ones by the weed boys be Sedo's?

Cantwell was just following McQuarrie and Johnston directives/designs. Another monkey at the bench, but the first one, so he was deemed important to the scriptures. Amen.

For what ever reason, like the Hornisse before it, the Camel taps a sci-fi nerve from the 60's for me. For me, elements of the space stuff have Space Race and Maj. Matt Mason in it.

I'm not really digging it, I'll be honest. But then again, it may grow on me. I felt the same about the Hummel and GH and now own both of those. So We'll see I guess.Standing next to a Lunapawn might be cool.

Ok, in my case it´s much money + shipping + 60% Is it that just because it's from Japan, or is it for everything from any country, including Europe? I'm just wondering how anyone there manages to import anything if it's so massively exensive on top of what you've paid already...? As for the Camel, I think I'll keep my money and wait for new suits...

Everything imported. in some states there is anadditional 18% for a total of 78% even ... afaik Brazil is the country with highest import taxes worldwide. There are limits for low-value imports but they are similar to europe ones (very low) and you can (!) get lucky not to get picked as everywhere. But when it hits you, it kinda hurts a lot

Maybe double-ship it and have it send as gift? so ship to friend first, then let him/her ship it again. Or if you know someone at an embassy, they might be exempt from these taxes

So if a company down-priced an item below the threshold of whatever it is on the import declaration sticker on your parcel then it would get through without you having to pay duty on it? I'm just curious because you could ask someone on here to buy you one and send it to you with the price on the declaration really low, or marked as a gift, to avoid the duty... Sure you might have to pay 2xshipping (HLJ, say, to them and then them to you) if you order it from an online supplier...or you might get away with paying shipping only once if you speak nicely enough to someone who actually lives in Japan who would actually go to a shop and buy you one, then send it on... It's just a thought, if you really wanted one... (Argghhh, Beork stole my thought waves and posted the same suggestion while I was typing!!! Where's my tin-foil hat? I need it to stop him stealing any more???)

double-shipping would not work. If the price is very low they might doubt it, look in and guess anouther price and tax that one. you CAN go there to prove that the real price is different IF you have bills, but that takes 3+ month. Same thing with gift Worst thing that happend till now: I got a replacement part (clear window for the ketzer) from hlj.com. I didn't have to pay them nothing, hlj sent it for free (as it came broken). HLJ declared 500yen as value (about 5$). The customs here said "no way, its more" and taxed me 30$, afirming that said part had a cost of 50$. As i had no bills (had paid anything, so no bill) i had two options: pay 30$ or send it back/reject the reception. That Ketzer sure was expensive
