Looks like a winnebago with wings!.

« on: May 14, 2012, 07:39:23 AM »

I had a good bit of fun with this one,i added a huge minigun from the falke kit to make it look like the hellhound chopper from patlabor 2, i know the landing gear should be down but i raised the front and back landing gear for flight ,i added some smoke launchers at the back to represent flare launchers also added cameras to the missiles for a smart missile look and finally i  drilled small holes around the cockpit and  added small beads to give the hummel the appearance of having a 360° celestial-spherical screen cockpit layout like ADF-01 FALKEN from ace combat.
I lit the cockpit so that the front screen lights up and the holes around the cockpit do too.
I did go a little over the top with weathering of the front clear screen and i'm not to bothered about the base but the base can always be changed. Smiley

Clever. What are the shot up wrecks? Do you have a clear acrylic rod to use instead?

Nice forced perspective, and I really like the way you treated the paint job, over all.

Thanks everyone.
I'm not to happy about the images either really, they seem more blurry today and don't seem pick up the lit areas very well, the beads to me look like i have painted them instead of lit them.aww well Undecided

Maschinen Krueger:
The wrecks are the arms and legs of the tiny gundams you get with this kit
http://gwing-online.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=70_42&products_id=334
The arms from one of the robots reminded me of legs for a gladiator and parts form the others looked like a safs so on they went. Smiley

Good idea i should be able to swap existing rod for some acrylic rod, yeah i'll i do that!.

ArnoB: Alright i'll keep it. Wink

struschie:Thanks, no plan i just make it up as i go along. Cheesy

You've made some cool modifications to your build and along with the painting, you've ultimately Javafied it.
Another answer to the rod is if you mount it to the side of the base and run it to the back of the Hummel? Huh
Also, I don't think the pictures are blurry, they seem grainy though.

Shot up Gundams. Perfect. You also might want to give yourself a little extra clearance between the landscape and Hummel.

Thanks!

JSAN9/Maschinen Krueger
Both are excellent suggestions, but read this long boring story and all should become clear, when the idea of lighting the hummel popped into my head i stupidly never thought about the base or any base work,i just thought lets light it it will be awesome! Roll Eyes
What i used to light it is a 10 blue battery operated fairy lights.
http://www.pkgreenshop.co.uk/ekmps/shops/123pravi/images/10-blue-fairy-lights-254-p%5Bekm%5D282x211%5Bekm%5D.jpg

Once it was done and lit up i realised that there was only a certain length of string wire between the hummel and the base/battery box  Lips sealed ,so the most direct route without losing any more length from the string wire was to go straight through the middle, that's why it is at a certain height and that's why the cable is run straight down through the base.  Undecided  Grin

Okay, I thought I'd posted the comment but it isn't here.  Huh

The idea with the eyes all round the cockpit to give a 360' view is really great and it's lit too.  Cool  Smiley The weathering is most definitely there  Smiley but it looks good. The worn, slightly metallic sheen on those front upper wing panels is nice. Would having more of a metallic sheen on the engines have looked a bit too much, next to the fuselage's weathering? They do seem green as well - either that or I need to twiddle the colour settings on the monitor again.

Very cool wreckage too! Cotton wool for the smoke?

Noddy4000

I didn't see you there.

The parts next to the fuselage's are a dark metallic colour, both the green and metallic are a similar darkness and do very much alike.

Yeah Cotton wool for the smoke, sometime it's best to keep it simple
