In the House of Upside Down...

« on: May 22, 2012, 10:31:31 AM »

Ta-daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
This has been the longest build in the history of long builds that take a very looooooooooooooooooong long time to build Undecided. It's finished now, though, thank God... Smiley

I was aiming for a paintjob that was close to the one on the camo-card in the box, with the ID numbers and all. It'd be nice to think that if The Man himself ever stumbled across these pics he'd think it's been done fairly close to how he imagined it...but probably not...

Anyways, I've spent pretty much the whole afternoon trying to take pictures that didn't have too much reflection on the canopy, and failed...these are the best I could get Undecided. Feel free to say what you think, whether it's good or bad-honestly I don't mind and value any opinion. I won't be changing anything, though, because it's now sitting in my Ma.K. display cabinet and I've moved onto pastures new (well, my Nixe Smiley) so any suggestions for improvements will have to be saved for future builds...

Wow..excellent matching between the suit and the base. Hope there are bigger images so that I can see the details, but it just looks very good.

Well done HE! Pose, base and modifications are fantastic. I'd like to see larger pics too because from your build posts, I could see the paint job was great. Maybe an outdoor shot some time? I like the PKA plaque too. A simple touch of class! Grin

Thanks for the comments Smiley. I don't know why the pictures are so small on here...I even took some new ones again this morning thinking it was maybe a setting on the camera, even though they show again at full size on Photobucket where they're hosted  Embarrassed. Small on here, full size with lots of nice detail on Photobucket. Maybe there's a setting on here that keeps pictures down to a certain size, though I've seen large pictures on here so I can't see how it could be that... Undecided

I don't know.

Love the paint job you've done on this P.K.A., HE. That base looks damn good too. I like the fact that you've gone right up to the edge of the pattress box with the detailing. Makes it clear to me that's what I need to do on mine. Which colours did you use for the broken pillar?

Feet up and a beer or three is well deserved, for this result.  Smiley

Both base and suit look great.
I'd just point two things:
I think you should have made a frame around the front glass, makes it look better "imvho"
Also a darker wash or grease, maybe different color on the engine to make it stand out a bit.
I love the suit color and dusted look, very cool!
Combines very well with the base too Wink

Yayyyyyyyyyyyy! Fixed them Grin. I had to reload them again and link separately to new codes on Photobucket but it worked...and, yes, these pictures are crap-maybe I should've stuck with the other ones!!! Oh, well, can't win them all Wink.

Thanks, Noddy Smiley. The colours are P3 acrylics (Cryx Bane Highlights, Bastion Grey, Gun Corps Brown, Hammerfall Khaki, Troll Brood Highlight and Menoth White Highlight) with a couple of GW paints (Dark Flesh and Vermin Brown) and GW Foundation paints (Dheneb Stone and Knarloc Green) thrown in for good measure. I just play around with the colours in teenie-tiny amounts on the surface of what I'm painting and hope for the best, so there's no magic formular or mixing ratios I'm afraid-sorry Smiley.

Yeah, you're probably right on all counts, Leopard Smiley. I've definitely learnt a few things with this build (I should've left it in it's box and saved myself a load of grief, for one... Cheesy) that I'll be using on future stuff. Thanks for saying what you think... Wink
